Tackling Complex Data Visualizations

This project's primary challenge was to present massive amounts of intricate data in a format that was easily accessible, digestible, and customizable. Each data visualization needed to be flexible, allowing users to filter information by more than 20 subtopics, such as preterm birth, infant mortality, and health insurance coverage. Additional layers of customization by race, ethnicity, and maternal age were also imperative, resulting in more than 60,000 possible data points requiring visualization.

The March of Dimes team was in dire need of a tool that could transform extensive data into a meaningful narrative that could impact policy, research, and family planning.
